Mortgage exemption time is now here and persons whose property is mortgaged may secure tax exemption on the same of one-half the amount of the mortgage up to $1,400 or S7OO exemption, by filing an exemption with the county auditor. Property held jointly must have the exemption signed by both busband and wife. Tax exemption on mortgaged property may be filed any time between the first day of March and the last day of April of each year.
