Chicago, February t,—Unified operation of all surface street car lines in Chicago went into effect at one minute after midnight last night, and today the new plan was working without any confusion or hitch of any sort. I nder the unification -plan it is possible for passengers to ride 28 miles in a straight line for 5 cents. They can ride from One Hundred and Thirty-eighth street on the south to the Evanston limits on the north on a single fare.
