TAGGART A CANDIDATE For Deniocrntic Nomination for U. S. Senator, Says Indianapolis Dispatch. Indianapolis, Ind., January 24. That Thomas Taggart, Indiana’s member of the Democratic National Committee, will be a candidate for the United States senate against Senator B. F. Shively before the democratic state convention, when it meets in this-city March 19, was the semi-official announcement made here tonight. A number of conferences among Taggart’s friends 'have been hold during the past ten days when, it is understood, the question of his candidacy was discussed. These conferences, most of which have been held in the office of State Auditor \V. H. O’Brien, have been attended by Governor Samuel M. Ralston, State Chairman Bernard Korbly, Mayor Joseph E. Bell and other party leaders.
