At Humor That He In To He Next Secretary of Treasury. Washington, D. C. December 22. —W. J. Bryan this afternoon laughed at a rumor printed to-day that he is to be the Secretary of the Treasury or Attorney-General in the Wilson Cabinet. The statement was made on the authority of an unnamed “friend,” alleged to have received a letter to tihat effect. “I do not inttend to be annoyed any more by rumors,” said Mt. Bryan who spoke at th'e residence of his bo®s 1820 Belmont road. "Whenever you have any written statement made by arny one that is worth‘answering I shall answer it. But yoii need not come with rumors, nor with what some alleged ‘friend’— Mr. Bryan’s voice here grew scornful—‘is quoted as haying said. If a man is a friend of mine he does not conceal his name, and give out annonyrnoua interviews.” j.
Mr. Bryan said no more here about his plans than he did in Trenton yesterday or in New York last evening. He departed for Florida last night after a twelve hour stay in this city. Hl* hours in Washington this time were devoted to his family and personal friends, and he held no political conferences. This morning he went automobiP ing with his son and daughter-in-law and the gTand-childTen. This afternoon he was at the home of Cengre—mnn Henry, of Texas. Mr.
Bryan and -his son, Wiliam Bryan, Jr., were the only guests.
