High School Notes.

School will be closed Friday foj a week’s vacation. 1 The seniors held a class meeting Friday evening and elected officers for the year. Madge Winn, of the Freshman class, ha B been absent this week on account of sickness. A basket ball schedule is being made and will be announced after vacation. The first game, however, will probably be . played with Lowell on January 3 The new library system seems to be very successful and more books are being added daily. It is evident that more interest is taken in the outside reading and more books are being used than before this plan was begun. The ladies of the D. A. R. have arranged for a contest in which the members of thte senior class will be permitted .to take part. It will be of some historical subject whict is to be decided upon later, and a priae is to be given to the person with the best paper.

erary society, which, was to hav< been given Wednesday was post poned until Friday. It was imposable to get scenery for the play that was to be given and therefore gome extra numbers had to be arranged and the program altered.

Mir. Williams and Dr. Kreslet members of the school board, spoke to the students of the high school Wednesday morning and urged the pupils to s ! how their appreciation of the new building by their action* and studies. In the few days that the building has been occupied it has been noticed In several classes that more interest is being taken in the work and it is hoped by teachers to keep up the interest and rais< the per cent of scholarship.

A great deal of interest is being taken in the basket ball leagues. The boys play two nights and the girlß three nights one week and the boys three and the girls two next week. There are ten teams in thu boys’ league and five In the girl’. The boys’ teams are named thr Reds, Maroons, Greens, Browns, Grays, Whites, Yellows, Blacks, Pur. pies and Blues. The girls' are named Blues, Reds, Blacks, Whites and Grays.
