Interesting Paragraphs from the Various Departments OF JASPER COUNTY CAPITOL The Legal News Epitomized—Together with Other Notes Gathered from the Several County Offices. Ex-sheriff John O’Connor was down from Kniman on business Thursday. Marriage licenses issued: Floyd McClure of Kokomo, aged 29, occupation attorney, to Margaret Estella White, of Tefft, aged 30, occupation housekeeper. First marriage for each. Sheriff Hoover is of the opinion that his star boarder from Fair Oaks Edward Fawley, is destined to wind up in Longcliff ere long. He has ‘ spells’’ that indicate that he is not in his right mind. He gives more trouble than all the other prisoners the sheriff ever had.
John W. Tilton, county recorder for the past eight years, will retire from office on January 1, when he will be succeeded by Recorder-elect George W. Scott. Mr. Tilton has made a pleasing and popular official, always courteous and obliging, and goes out of office with the good will of everyone. He has no definite plans for the future, but expects to remain in Rensselaer if he can find anything suitable to engage in.
C. P. Wright & Son report another big sale—or trade rather—of Jasper county real estate this week, 556 acres near Fair Oaks owned by A. W. Sawin of Rensselaer, which is traded to a Mr. Spang of Georgetown, 111., tor two residence properties and a gristmill at Georgetown. Mr. Spang assumes an intumbrance on the farm and pays balance in cash. Mr. Sawin still has 200 acres of land near Fair Oaks which will probably be sold this week.

Demand SI,OOO. No. 7965. State vs. Charles V. May; action for failure to record assignment of a certain of SI,OOO given by George A. Chappell and w’fe to the Perpetual Building & Loan “Association of Remington, Dec. 2, 1901, and assigned to defendant on May 7, 1908 Demand SIOO for benefit of school fund and $25 for attorney fee. Mr. May is the township trustee of Career ter tp., and the offense is probably due more to an oversight than to any intent to disobey the law. No. 7966. Catherine O’Brien vs. Bessie Reed, et al; action for partition of real estate. No. 7967. George Kime vs. Ellsworth Webb; action for an accounting. No. 7968.
