The Senior basket ball league' has been organized under the management of the following board of managers: H. Daniel, Th. Fettig/ R. Murphy, M. Bustetter, F. Shields and R. Kruetzcr. The teams are all strong and evenly matched, and give promise of a high grade of basket ball for the coming season confirming the opinion that basket ball will yet become the chief game at the college. The varsity opened a long schedule when the Whiting Owls went down to defeat before them by the score of 41 to 23. The home team was the first to score, and the lead was never taken from them, not even endangered. Sindelar played the best game for the collegians, scoring 24 or their points; whereas Moran’s old time work at guard handicapped the opponents tremendously In getting baskets. K. L. Stockton was the main works for the Owls, but the speed of the college boys was more than the Purdue star of last year could overcome The boys are now hopeful of keeping a clean slate, and if the negotiations now pending to have Stockton coach the team, their fond hopes may be realized. There Is every reason for anticipating a most successful season even against the heavy college teams that a,re scheduled for games after the holidays. The line up: St. Joseph. Whiting Deery F. Dnggan McArdle F. Girard Sindelar C. Stockton Moran G. Bartuska Barth G. Griffith Referee Dean, Rensselaer; Umpire Carlson, Whiting.
