Beware of Feeding Smutty Corn. County commissioner Jacob Nice lost six fine cows last week, the animals having died from the results of eating corn which contained smut. The cows ate a great deal of the Corn and fodder and an examination of one of the cow’s stomachs after death revealed the fact that the fodder had become packed very tightly in the stomach and caused congestion. Henry March, living near Mr. Nice, and several other farmers in Indian Creek report the loss of animals from the same cause. —Winamac Democrat-Journal.
