Gerald and Miss Cecelia Hollingsworth went to Chicago Saturday to be present at a social event given by the students of the Chicago University and to visit their uncle, G. K. Hollingsworth, and family, for a few days. \
John Sharp of Chicago Heights, 111., who accompanied his wife and daughter here last Wednesday for a few days visit with his father and other relatives, returned to the city Saturday, his wife and daughter remaining for a longer visit.
Mrs. C. P. Wright, who has been taking treatment for rheumatism at the Martinsville sanitarium for the past two weeks, returned home Sunday. She was benfited some by the treatment, although not as much so as was hoped.
Mrs. Elias Koons, who for the past two or three weeks has been at the bedside of her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Scanlon, at Loganspjort, who is very low with consumption and expected to die at any moment, returned home Saturday.
Mrs. Sidney Holmes of Jamestown, No. Dak., was operated on at the Rensselaer Hospital Saturday and is row reported to be doing nicely. Mrs. Florence Peacock was also operated on at the hospital the same day, for a malignant tumor growth and is also reported to be getting along as well as could be expected. Mrs. Walter Hopkins also underwent a successful operation Saturday at the same hospital, for appendicitis, and is now doing very nicely.
Bert Hudson, who a quarter of a century ago was employed here as a carpenter, and who wiir be remembered by the older residents of the city, died last Tuesday at Hammond, where he has made his home for the > asL twenty years. The funeral, which was in charge of the G. A. It., of which he was a member, was held in that city Thursday. Deceased was about 67 years of age and is survived by four children, all of whom are married.
Mr. and Mrs. James E. Walter and two children leave today for Houston, Tex., to spend the winter with Mrs. Walter’s brother, and wife, Mr. and Mrs. William Donnelly. They will store their household goods, expecting to return here in the spring. The property occupied by Mr. Walter, just north of the depot, was purchased some time ago by Simon Hochstettler, who has moved into same. Mr. Hochstettlei sold his property to J. W. King who has also moved into same, this week and Wilson Schaffer, of west of town , who bought the King property, will move into it right away, we understand.
