High School Notes.
Pearl McConahay of the Juniors hag been absent on account of illness. The peniors drop-ped civics for a while and have again taken up their history work. Esther Wiseman of the sophomore class was called home /. from school 1 Tuesday on account of her brother’s sickness. The senior German class is accomplishing a great deal of work in their three recitations during the week. They are reading “Hermann and Dorothea.” The next football game will be with Kankakee at this place Saturday, November 16th. This will be
the last game before Thanksgiving and a good crowd should come out and help the boys win. The mext literary program will be the Thanksgiving number, given by the Lincoln society on Tuesday, before Thanksgiving. The program committee for the tVo societies has made out programs for the entire year, one entertainment to be given by each society in each month. The programs will be printed in pamphlet form and passed out at the next meeting. —] A good basketball schedule is promised for this year and more interest will be taken in. it than has ever before been shown. With the new gymnasium, which the new' high school affords, the financial diffiiculties will be lessened and it is said there will be better advantages. Among the towns that have already written are Medaryville, Wolcott, Brook, Monticello, Delphi, Latayette, Brookston, Battle Ground, and Linden.
Rev. Winn gave the principal of the high school several cards to pass to the students of ea,ch room for the purpose of canvassing the school. Each pupil was asked to sign a card, promising to attend the church on Sunday, both November 17th and 24th. Each stated which church was preferred and one hundred and twenty-eight cards in all were signed. Fourty-four of this number preferred the Methodist church, thirty-eight the Christian, twenty-eight, the Presbyterian, and twelve the Catholic, while four showed no preference.
