Our republican friends are indeed in desperate straits. They are going to resurrect J. Frank Hanley and put him on the stump.

Congressman Crumpacker is to speak in Rensselaer next Monday evening from a stand-pat republican standpoint. Crump and Joe Oannon are stand-patters from away back, but unless we miss our guess both will be retired to private Ufa early next month.

Sunday’s Cincinnati Enquirer in a forecast of the political situation of ' the country, based on the, conclusions of a corps of trained observers, gives Wilson 385 of the 532 electoral votes; Taft 13; Roosevelt 36; doubtful, 98. Talft is given Ne\y Hampshire, New Mexico ’and Oregon; Roosevelt, Idaho, Michigan, North Dakota South Dakota and Washington. The doubtful states are Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, lowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. All the others are given to Wilson. 'the robbery was discovered almost immediately - and the authorities notified, and although a number oi clews were followed they proved to be false ones and the bandits made good their escape.
