City Council Proceedings.
The regular meeting of the city council was ‘held Monday evening with all members present. A crossing was ordered on Eton street at tlhe intersection of Franklin street. t City engineer instructed to prepare plans and specifications for sewer in alley in block 14 between Waslhingrtom and Harrison streets, and eftty attorney instructed to prepare resolution for came. Resolution adopted for sidewalk l>etibtioned for by Chas. Grow, east side of College Avenue, from McCoy avenue to Vine street, conrnieotlng up walks already to. Petition of Fred Phillipa for opening up new street granted. Preriminary assessmnt roll filed in the Franklin, Plum and Webster street sewers and same adopted. Pettit ion of C. E. Simpson, et. al. for side walk on north side of Cherry tlbreet was granted and resolution ordered prepared. Petitton of about 100 citizens for the fanpovement of the rlvr bankfe on the north and south sides of the Washington street bridge, by ordering the removal of the junk pile on the north and building a cement retaining wall on the south and west side and filling same in wiit'h the trtrect scrapings, ashes and other unobjectionable trash and parking same, was referred to the Park Committee and city engineer. This particular strip of ground on the south was acquired by the city by deed from the Rensselaer Drainage Association—as also fs strips on both sides of the river for some distance through town—and is perhaps 75 or 80 feet wide by some 400 feet long. None of this ground cam be diisitosed of by tlhe city nor used for any thing but park purposes. Such being the case, the petitioners ask that Lt be cleaned up and beautified instead of being left to grow up in weeds and be an eyesore to the city. The following claims were allowed:
