Michael Duffey Is a Congressional Candidate.
Michael Duffey of Fowler was in the oity yesterday and authorized The Democrat to announce his name for the democratic nomination for congress from this district. Mr. Duffey is a life-long democrat arid has resided practically all his life to Tippecanoe and Benton counties. In early life he taught school for several years, but for the last quarter of a century has been engaged in farming and the stock growing and grain buying and Shipping business, and is a large land owner to both Benton and Newton counties. He has always been identified with tfhe plain people and thedr interests. He feels that as this is largely an agricultural district the people Should once in a while at least, have a representative to congress from among them. Mr. Duffey has been prominent in democratic politics of this district for many years, and seldom misses a national, state or district convection, or any other prominent gathering of democrats. ways been a strong supporter of W. J. Bryan and the policies of Mr. Bryan which have now • become so popular. He is a self-made man, having been left an orphan at an early age, and the success' that he has attained is due to his own efforts and good judgement. He is alligned with no clique or faction and is free to serve the people if nominated and elected, as they should be served. He is a general reader and keeps well ported cm the current events of th day. His life is an open book, and if nominated and elected he will be a real servant of tihe people.
