Gray, republican nominee for surveyor of White county, has notified the county chairman there! that he desires to withdraw from the ticket, as he has gone over to the Bull Moosers. The republican nominee for coroner of White recently did likewise.
The second marriage license issued since July 20, thirty days, was taken out Monday by John Richard Lucas of Bedford, aged 48, occupation section foreman, to Emma Dill Ward, of Rensselaer, aged 43, occupation housekeeper. Second mariage for each, male having been divorced in February last and femafle’s husband died July Hast, about four weeks ago. Married in * the clerk’s office by Rev. W. G. "Winn. —o— The next opportunity for registration by Jasper county voters will be on September 6. Registration may be made at the same places as the May registration took place. Voters, who registered in May, and do not expect to change their voting precinct, will not be required to register again. Another chance to register will be afforded the tardy ones on October 5. If you don’t * register you can’t vote at the November election. f
Charles Collins, a newion county prisoner was brought over Saturday to lay out a fine of 14 days for drunkeness. The prisoner hails! originally form Illinois, and it Ms said the Kentlanc officers wer2 so anxious to avoid a board bill for Newton county that they chased him across the line into the Sucker state, but he liked Indiana best, he especially desired to spend a fewdays in Rensselaer, and back he came to Kentland to be taken into custody. —o— Ex-sheriff John O’Connor was down from Kniman Saturday on business. The main channel of the Delehanty ditch, of which he is superintendent, a little over six miles in length, is now completed, and the dredge is resting in the Hodge ditch. On the last half mile of the ditch Mr. O’Connor had the dirt all thrown on one side, in the highway, to make a grade through the marsh, and trustee Keene of Wheatfield tp., is having the dirt leveled down and a good grade will be the result.
New suits filed: No. 7895 A. A. Peckert vs. -William Joice; action on account. Demand $258.31. No. 7896. State of Indiana vs. Scott Chestnut; appeal from Squire Bruner’s court. Chestnut wasarrested May 29, charged with driving an auto on the streets of I Rensselaer faster than, eight miles an hour, and on June 1 was found guilty and fined $5 and costs, $13.45 in all. From this decision the de-| fendant appealed, with Ray D. Thompson as surety. No. 7897. W. Leßoy Meyer vs. j Paul Samuelson et al; action to quiet title. i- --- No. 7898. Parr Creamery Co. vs. Connecticut Fire Insurance Co.; action to collect insurance on the Parr Creamery, burned some few months ago, and which was insured in the defendant company. Demand $2,000. Off on Long Automobile Trip. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meyers of Wheatfield are leaving this week on what would seem a most enjoyable! automobile trip. They go to Hypoluxo, Fla., where they have a farm, and spend their winters. They have!
folding cots and camping eqiuppage and will get the utmost outdoor enjoyment of the 3,000 mile trip. They go via- Cleveland, Buffalo, New York. Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Atlanta and Jacksonville.
They surely will see some of the country and should enjoy the trip immensely.
