Aug. 6.—The iron and steel tariff bill received the signatures of Speaker Clark and Acting President Facon of the senate and went to President Taft. This Is the first of the tariff revision bills passed bv the Democrat-insurgent alliance *in the senate, to reach the chief executive and close friends of the president express the conviction that he will veto it because no investigation of the Industry has been made by the tariff boyd. upon which to base a scientific tariff revision.
