TOM McCOY VISITS RENSSELAER

Former Rensselaer Banker Spends Sunday with Friends Here. T. J. McCoy, former Rensselaer banker and republican political boss, with Mrs. McCoy, came down from Chicago Saturday, where he is doing a commission business at the stock yards, and was the gueet of Rensselaer friends until Sunday afternoon. This is Tom’s first real visit here since his release from prison a. few years ago after serving a term for bad banking methods in this city. He has changed but little since his halcyon days as banker and boss of,the republican machine in the Tenth district and the bank failure in 1904.. He looks but little older and is apparently the same old Tom as of yore. He is looking well, taps the scales at about two hundred pounds and talks politics as glibly as of old. Saturday afternoon he held one continuous reception on the streets and scores of his old cronies and friends shook hands with him here. His son Taylor was recently married, his wife being a former Lafayette girl whose folks now live in Chicago. Taylor is employed as a book-keeper in one of the offices in the stockyards district, has settled down and is said to be doing well. Mr. and Mrs'. McCoy guests ■of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Warner while here. E. P, Honan also had them at his house Saturday evening where Tom met several of the “boys” in a friendly bout at “Slippery Ann.”
