Jasper County Democrat, Volume 14, Number 76, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 30 December 1911 — TAGGART IN CONTROL [ARTICLE]
TAGGART IN CONTROL
Will Dictate Selection of Eight Members of Indiana Committee. I Indianapolis, Dec: 29. Practically l complete returns from pH counties In which conventions and primaries have been held to select delegates to Democratic district conventions show that the Taggart faction will control the ' selection of the eight members of the i new committee and that Governor i Marshall’s friends will control five, , thus giving Taggart a decided majority on reorganization and enabling him to dictate the chairman. Friends of the governor admit defeat unless the unexpected should happen in some of the district conventions I today. They claim that some of the I men whom Taggart is supporting are J not opposed to Marshall, and that there may be such a compromise between the factions that Edward G. Hoffman of Fort Wayne, who is supported by the governor, will be chosen for the chairmanship.
