bank well knew that the check was to be for S3OO and that the contract so states. . . • At the special meeting of the county commissioners Tuesday the stationery contracts, classes 1, 2 and 3, were awarded to Levy Bros, of Indianapolis, and class 4 to Healey & Clark of Rensselaer. Levy Bros, and the Viquesny Co. of Terre Haute bid on all the classes, while the Burt-Haywood Co. of Lafayette only bid on the first three classes. The bid of Healey & Clark totalled $61.11, while the bid of’ The Democrat totalled $78.05. ! The Republican has stated that 'it treats. The Democrat just as if it didn’t exist, but it usually takes it into consideration in bidding on work, ahd in this case has bid less than cost. Charles Morlan,' who has held the job as court house janitor for twelve years with but one contract, at the beginning, was re-hired by the retiring board for one Dec. T, 1911, at $45 per -month. There were two other applicants for the place. Thomas Cox and Marsh Warren. Charles Stackhouse voted for Warren and Denham and Pettet for Morlan. The two latter wanted to hire Morlan for two j r ears, but Stackhouse objected. This position belongs to the democrats, and as the board will be democratic after Jan. 1, the republican board wanted to fasten a republican on the incoming board. However, the new board can do as it pleases about keeping him. The sheriff reported fees collected for the quarter ending Nov. 30. of $76.38, which report was approved. \ „ The bond of J. P. Hammond, auditor-elect, signed by Joseph P. Hammond, S. C. Hammond? Walter V. Porter, Marion I. Adams. D. S. Makeever, Ed J. Randle, John M. Wasson and R. A. Parkison. was approved. The bond is for SIO,OOO.
Bond of Alson A. Fell, treas-urer-elect, in the sum of $50,000, signed bv Alson A. Fell, Wesley _L Fell. C. H. Peck, H. R. Hartman and Wm. Townsend, was also approved.
