The Ladies’ Literary Society held their regular meeting yesterday at the home of Mrs. F. E. Babcock on River street. Firman Thompson is feeding about 2,500 sheep on his farm near Parr, probably the largest single flock ever seen in Jasper county. Bert Tilton and Miss Ethel Cooper, both of Wheatfield, hied away -to Michigan’s Gretna Green last Sunday and were made one. Jerry Healy and wife returned home Monday night from Danville, 111., where they visited Mrs. Healy’s brother, Frank Meyer and wife. The plaintiff was represented by attorney John A. Dun’apj while the defendant had Williams & Blue and W. H. Parkinson as his counsel. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Overton of South Haven, Mich., came down Thursday to attend the funeral of the latter’s mother, Mrs. Mathew Zehfden. A 5-year-old son of Thomas Walter of Barkley tp., fell from an apple tree Wednesday and fractured his left arm about midway between the wrist and elbow. Miss Gertrude Hopkins entertained several elderly ladies at a 12 o’clock dinner Thursday at the Makeever House in honor pf her ’mother’s, Mrs. Austin Hopkins’ 75th birthday anniversary.
