DEATH RATE IS LOWER
Typhoid Fever Was Prevailing Disease for September. Indianapolis. Oct. 20. —The report of the state board of health for September shows typhoid fever was the prevailing disease for the month with tonsilitis second. Diphtheria, which now is epidemic in a number of places, was eighth in prevalence. Pulmonary tuberculosis was sixth, and smallpox was twenty-sixth The total number of deaths was 4,409, with a state rate of 10.8. For the corresponding month last year the xate was 12.4.
