Babcock of Goodland was in the city Wednesday looking after some legal matters. Special Judge Marvin of Monticello is still grinding on the Marble ditch case and it will take a part of next week yet to complete the case, it was stated yesterday. Sept. 6, Everett R. Halstead of Newton tp., aged 30, occupation farmer, to Loe Cornelia Pancoast, also of Newton tp., aged 28, occupation teach’er. First marriage for each. Even the Republican thinks Purtelle’s “bond” in the Newton tp., railroad election is n. g. That’s indeed strange. He should have gone around and assured them thaj it was good as gold, same as the “bond” he put up in Marion tp. Sheriff Hoover and Mrs. Inez Nichols, matron of the poor farm, Took Mrs. Tony Kiser of Rensselaer to the asylum Wednesday. The woman was released from the asylum last March. Mrs. Kiser is about 40 years of age and is the mother of four children. Mr. Kiser is employed at the Irwin & Reed tile mill, and says that his wife imagines that people are trying to break into their home and harm her. The sheriff saw “Shorty” Adams and talked with him while there. He is considerably improved.

Father of groom giving his consent to issuing of license. New suits filed: No. 7779. Margaret 1 Ransford vs. The First National Bank of Rensselaer; suit on account. Demand $450. No. 7770. Thomas Ramey Vs. James McKiney; action on account and for restraining order. No. 7771. State' of Indiana, ex rel. Ella Elizabeth Thomas vs. Clinton Saidla; proceedings from Squire Irwin’s court. No. 7772. Frank E. Wagner vs. Eva M, Wagner; action for divorce. The parties were married Sept. 25, 1905, the complaint alleges, and defendant is alleged to have abandoned plaintiff August 4, 1908.
