Marriage licenses issued: Aug. 4, Ambrose Francis Marion, son of George W. Marion of Parr, aged 22, occupation farmer, to Jessie Estella Parks, daughter of C. L. Parks of Surrey, aged 18, occupation housekeeper. First marriage for each.

Harry Kurrie has traded the old Joe Kosta farm of 120 acres in Lincoln tp., Newton county, to Everett Halstead for the former I. M, Washburn brick cottage near the creamery bridge, and the old Republican building on Washington street. New suits filed: No. 7753. George W. Tilton vs. the Board of Commissioners of Jasper county; appeal from Commissioners’ court. (This is the Wheatfield liquor license case, wherein the township voted “wet,” but the commissioners refused a license because the unit had less than 1,000 population, the limit fixed by the commissioners for granting liquor licenses in Jasper county.) No. 7754. Truman Holdridge vs. Joseph C. Walker, et al.; action to quiet title. Dr. Bernard Maloy, formerly of Rensselaer, seems to be stirring up the animals at Steger, 111., where he has been located in the- practice of medicine for the past eight or ten years, and a few days ago he got in a mix-up with the chief of police and was locked up in the town calaboose all day, while the chief is said to have gone to Chicago and took the lock-up keys with him. Bernie has now filed affidavits against the police officer charging him with malfeasence in office. The county commissioners met in regular session Monday and were still grinding' yesterday. Aside from claims allowed the following was all that was done at Monday’s session: W. B. McNeil ditch; drainage commissioners file report. John Greve, Bernice M. Clark, Lodie Smith, Jane Miller, E. Jensen and Jasper county file waiver of notice. Cause continued for objections and remonstrance. Interest on county funds for the month of July was reported as follows: Fiarst Nat.
