Young Purdue Student Comes 4o Rensselaer Saturday With His Wife. James Jordan of Barkley tp., a member of the 1909 class of the Rensselaer high school, and who is attending Purdue University at Lafayette, came in Saturday. with his wife, formerly Miss Martha Bender of Lafayette, to receive the best wishes and congratulations of his many Rensselaer friends. James and bride intended to “slip one over’’ the friends with a secret marriage, the .ceremony taking place June 12 last, which they.intended to keep a' secret for two years. But in some manner the story leaked out, as they usually do. Mr. and Mrs. Jordan will live with his mother, Mrs. W. N. Jordan, in Barkley until Purdue opeps, when they will take up their residence in Lafayette during school months. The Democrat joins with the friends of the young couple in extending congratulations.
