WHAT A WHOPPER!
While wading in Wolf lake, near Boone Grove, Porter county, Harry Story found a bone of a mastodon 47 feet in length. Mr. Story’s attention was attracted to the exposed portion of the bone protruding from a clay bank. He investigated and unearthed the relic of antediluvian days. An examination of the; bone admits of only one conclusion —that at one time it was part, probably a rib, of a mammoth. The bone is in a state of good preservation and represents in imagined outline an enormously large pre-historic monster. It is intended untimately to present the curio to the Smithsonian institute at 'Washington.—Starke County Republican.
