amounts to much that way. People from far and near would stop to see the boys cultivating our corn and seemed to enjoy it as much as we would a rock road back home. In South Dakota the small grain is a failure and the men and boys are coming from there by the aundreds to get work here at anything and at any price. But there Tsn’t’ work »for, a tenth of them. Some come with wagons, sonie on horseback and a large percentage on foot. The Hdosiers held a big picnic at Mr. Hecker’s on the 4th and all enjoyed a glorious time, with a big dance and fireworks at night. They expect t® have a picnic once a year as long as so many are near each other. 1 There Je a nice rain falling now, but It goes in streaks, instead of being general. With best wishes to all, from MRS. SIDNEY B. HOLMES. •» .a»
