QUAKE AFFECTS MOST OF MEXICO
Latest Reports Show Wide Extent of Disturbance. TONILA ENTIRELY DESTROYED Fifty-Nine Bodies Removed from Ruins in Zapotalan, Which Was Leveled to Ground— Worst Earthquake Since 1882. City of Mexico, June 9.—Although this city suffered worse than any other place, the earthquake that visited Mexico City extended over the greater part of the republic. Guadalajara reports that Tonila, a small town on the slope of Colima, a volcanic mountain, was completely destroyed, tut the number of killed is not given. Most of the inhabitants, warned by the slight shakes that preceded the heavy shock, fled from the town before the buildings tumbled down. The cathedral was completely destroyed.
