The city schools are observing the spring vacation this week. Len Lefler of Lafayette was in the city on business yesterday. F. B. Ham was in Monon and Lafayette on business yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Greenlee spent Monday in Monticello with friends. Mrs. E. C. English went to Chicago Saturday for a week’s visit with relatives. Harvey Wood, Sr., was called to Moqon yesterday by the serious illness of a relative. Miss Milton Roth and little son went to Evanston Monday for a visit with her sister. Miss Edna Kayes left Saturday for a couple of months visit wth relatves at Lake Geneva Wis. V Adam Flesher and three children were called to Portland Monday by the sickness of his mother. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rhoades went to Chicago yesterday for a couple of days visit with friends. Evaporated apricots, 10 cents a pound for this week. Miss Tillie Fendig returned home Sunday from New Orleans where she has been visitng for the past several months. Vern Michaels left yesterday morning for Denver, Colo., where he will remain for an indefinite time if he can find a suitable position. Mrs. Ira Galbraith and children of Chicago, w;ho have been here visiting with relatives for the past few days, returned home Saturday. A. Leopold has been confined to his home the past three weeks with his old malady, bladder trouble, and yesterday was reported somewhat, worse. Miss Grace Thompson left Monday for Winchester to resume her duties in the service of A. J. Brennerj for whom she worked in the hotel here. John Hemphill went to Chicago Saturday to spend Sunday with his brother George who is employed in the tarff department of the Rock Island railway. David Overton, who is employed as a brakeman on the Rock Island, with headquarters at Trenton, Mo., came Saturday for a short visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Overton.
