County Clerk Warner was in Indianapolis Mlonday with numerous other county clerks and sheriffs to urge the passage of a ..bill to correct that passed by the last legislature in regard to certain fees of their office, which was recently held bad by the higher court. There is no opposition to the proposed law correcting the errors and it will pass if the legislature has time to get to it, there being much business to transact in the few days remaining of the present session. The local “board of trade” shop has announced that it would retire from business in Rensselaer last night. Since its inception here some two years ago by Eugene Purtelle the business has been run under various names, but Geo. W. Goff has been the local manager throughout its career, with Leland Jessen telegraph operator most of the time. Mr. Goff expects to visit relatives at Hot Springs, Ark., it is said, and also his son Bert at Belle Fourche, So. Elak. Mr. Jessen has secured a like position as' telegrapher in a shop at Princeton, 111. •a < NOTICE OF REMOVAL. On and after Feb. Ist I will have removed my office across the street over Duvall’s clothing store, to rooms formerly occupied by Dr. Washburn. DR. W. W. MERRILL.
