RENSSELAER 24 CROWN POINT 26.
Crown Point, Ind., Feb. 11.— The basketball game between Rensselaer high school and the Crown Point high school five last night at Central Music hall was one of the roughest and hardest fought games ever seen here, and ended in a whirlwind and spectacular fashion with the score 24 to 26, the Crown Pointers getting the biggest slice of the melon. With only trhee points to make to tie the game in the last four minutes the -Rensselaer bunch played like demons to wrest the hard-earned victory from Crown Point, but every man on the team played his opponent to a standstill and the visitors were only able to make one of the coveted three points and that on a foul. The improvement in the locals’ style of play was marked, they showing a superiority in team work over their classy rivals and a much improved condition over their former style of play. The local high school students are jubilant over their victory as the Rensselaer five is considered one of the strongest and fastest aggregations in this part of the state. The line-up was as follows: Crown Point Bartholomae, Elting, Pettibone, Wheeler, McWayne. Rensselaer—Parks, Porter, Miller, Sage, Hemphill, Robinson, sub. * . First half.
