LET THE “NAGURS” DO THE WORK.

C. J. Dean, Wlm. Morris and Mark Reed returned Monday morning from their land prospecting trip to Louisiana. Emmet Fidler stopped off at Terre Haute and Conrad Kellner at Lafayette. None of the parties invested, but they think it a nice country and the climate —at this time of year, at least —is delightful. The land offered for sale consists of large sugar plantations, land that has been in sugar cane for the last half a century or more. It ranges in price from S4O to SBO per acre, and thousands of acres are being sold to northern farmers, many of whom are from Illinois. The “niggers” do all the work, and there are lots of them there. In fact at present the whites are very few, but the influx of northern men will change this condition considerably.
