JUST CAN’T GIVE IT UP.

The Republican just can’t give up that L. P. Shirer wasn’t elected sheriff last fall, and in printing the bar docket for the February term of court it placed his name therein as sheriff of Jasper county. The Republican used, so much printer’s ink and so exhausted the think-tank of its strong-arm editor in lauding the - ex-sheriff, that its egotism can’t yet comprehend that it was so emphatically sat down upon by the voters of this county. Its editors are endowed by nature with neither foresight or hindsight, or they would have taken the hint long ago that the public places no confidence in anything they have to say.
