Representative John Brown has our thanks for a copy of the new option law measure, as signed by Governor Marshall. An erroneous impression is held by many people as to what constitutes the unit in this measure. It is not city, town and township, but “incorporated cities and townships.” In Jasper county, for examplethere is but one incorporated city —Rensselaer—and here the city would vote exclusive of Marion township. In Carpenter and Wheatfield townships, which have incorporated toxyns, the townships and towns constitute the unit, and would vote as a whole. The grand jury was convened Monday with Prosecutor Longwell at the helm. Abe Dekoker of Demotte and Edward Bellows of Carpenter were excused, and A.' J. Harmon and W. L. Nowels of Rensselaer put on in their stead. As now composed the jury consists- or A. J. Harmon, Rensselaer. >W. E. Culp, Milroy. Wm. Banes, Carpenter. Harry E? Gifford, Gifford. Omar Kenton, Newton.
