TURKEY THIEVES ABROAD
A Good Bunch Gathered Up In Hanging Grove Township Saturday Night. Some- parties who have been operating extensively in the chicken stealing line in Hanging Grove and Milroy townships are not only courting a dose of buckshot, but if captured they will get a term in prison that will take all the thievery out of them for a time at least. Dozens of farmers over in that locality have been visited;, by the gang and their plunder would foot up to several hundred dollars. Sunday night at least three places were visited and ten fine turkeys taken. Walter lost six. Win. Willetts two, and Charles Lefier two. At Mr. Willetts the thieves had the. audacity to come right in the yard near the house and swipe a coop to carry the turks away in. Hundreds of chickens have been stolen in that locality during "the past few months, and one farmer near Pleasant Ridge, it will be remembered, had two fat hogs stolen from his pig stye. The people are becoming much aroused over these depredations, and The Democrat hopes to have a “scare head” in a short time regarding the capture or killing of one or more members of the gang.
