TAFT DEMANDS A CUT Says Estimates for the Departments Are Too High. President Taft informed his cabinet officers at a meeting of the cabinet, as ter scrutinizing the final draft of the estimates of the various departments for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1511, that there must be a further and deeper cut in them; that they would not do in their present form. In response to the urgent demands of the president, the heads of the several departments already had held the estimates down to what they com sidered rock borom figures.
