Landis, in the United States district court in Chicago, dis qualified himself from hearing the trial of the indicted meat packers, chargea with violation of the Sherman antitrust law. The judge announced his intention of transferring the case to Judge Carpenter, who also sits in the district court The packers had demanded that the case be transferrer to the United States circuit court. Judge Landis in his decision sustained the contention of the packers that his part in the getting of evidence disqualified him from acting impartially.
