BUYS IN NORTH DAKOTA.
Joseph Grube, formerly of \\ heatfield but for some years past residing near Momence, 111., writes The Democrat from Hamilton. Xo. Dak., under date of Nov. 20 and says: “I am at Harvey Davisson's home n-.ir Hamilton. N. Dak. and 1 am very much surprised to see such a fine country here. The farmers here have an abundance of everything. I purchased a weir improved quarter section within two miles of Cavalier, the county seat, through Mr. Davisson, and am well pleased with my purchase. I expect to move onto the farm in the spring. “I find that T, F. Brusnahan. J T. Murray. F. P. Morton. John Shultz. Geo. Besse. Wrii. Baker and Spinny Bros., from Indiana have all purchased farms here and I think they all have made a good deal. I wish to say to my friends that there are great opportunities here for person to get a good home reasSrfable, and a fine location. The crops show that the soil is extra good. “1 have been riding around oyer the country with Mr. Davisson in his automobile without any overshoes or my ears tied up. Weather is fine and roads good. Snowing some today. Yours Truly. JOSEPH GRUBE."

No snow as yet but freezes every night and some days it does not thaw any, but we don't mind the cold weather, here as it is dry. We all have the best of health. “I was more than pleased with the election returns so far as I have it. Have not got them complete yet.. I don't suppose ■Teddy' will 'sit down' yet. but he will see the day when he will. ‘This state is strongly republican,, but it would not be if the people had their wishes. There is but one democrat paper printed in the state that 1 know of. that is at Bonestell. Gregory Co. The reason why they are all republican is because the government, is so, and as there is lots of legal notices in a homestead country, and only republican papers get them. Another thing, our commissioners are all republican and have no tegard for law or justice as long as they can have things their own way. They have the appointing of the election boards and in our district they appointed three republicans as judges, and one of my neighbors had the appointment and didn't want to serve, so. not know-

Because the ordinary wagon hub is made from nak, a wood that and cracks very easily, while a hubs are made from (Sorfern Black Birch, a very springy, tough wood, chemically treated, with great weather resisting qualities. West era birch is used by some manufacturers, but it is even poorer than oak. It is brashy and will not stand the strain.
