FRED LONGWELL VINDICATED IN JASPER.
The result of the election in Jasper county is a distinct vindication of prosecutng attorney Fred Longwell. Both the republican candidates for commissioner and the republican candidate for sheriff were defeated all three of whom were Candidates for reelection and had been connected in an unsavory way with the graft charges which have been afloat in that county during the past year. While Mr. Longwell was not able to secure convictions in the courts on the cases he brought against the commissioners the opinion was prevalent that if the commissioners were not of every charge they had acted in a manner that left them open to suspicion and the best way to put an end to the scandal was to clean house and begin with a new slate. \ The election of a democrat in Jasper county is an event not to be overlooked in taking a last glance at the results of the recent election. It is sufficient to say that the provocation must have been great to cause Jasper county republicans to ' desert their local ticket and the only interpretation that can be placed upon their action is that they believed Mr. Longwell was right. —Benton Review.
