The Democrat to Send Three Young Women to New York City Free
Delegation of Popular Jasper County Ladies Will Visit the Great Eastern Metropolis—Baltimore, Washington and Other Cities in Itinerary Great Contest Will Commence Today Coupon Good for Twenty-five Votes in This Issue of The Democrat—No Conditions—Three Districts in County—One Lady From Each District
"Breathes there a girl with soul so dead, Who never to herself has said, I want to see New York City.” Ever since we first took up the study of geography we have heard continuously of the joys and glories, the pleasures and follies, the scenes and sights of America’s greatest sightseeing resort, the beautiful New York City. Ever since we can remember. the most of us have had a longing and a desire to, see this wonderful place, but have been kept from it by the well founded reports that it is only a rest for the very wealthy. The Democrat, however, has formed a plan by which three young ladies are going to see this glorious sightseeing resort without a cent of expense to themselves. All that it will take for any young lady to go on this outing of pleasure is a little effort in behalf of The Democrat for a few short weeks. In keeping pace with the remarkable growth of The Democrat the management has decided to enter upon its first real out-of-the-ordinary enterprise.
It has decided that Jasper county shall be represented thisryear in the greatest of all the natjpn’s cities. People flock to New r York City, greatest of all sightseeing resorts from all over the world. Meetings, conventions, public; gatherings; myriads of theatrical offerings during these mouths throng the greatest city with, thousands of jolly guests for whom entertainment and fetes of a hundred different kinds ate planned and promulgated. Representatives from almost every city on the globe will be there and it is the intention of The Democrat that this year our own county shall he represented too, in a manner that will be a credit to the city. Jasper county’s representatives will be three of the prettiest and most popular girls to be found in the city and county. The young ladies will form a delegation as the representatives of this county to these most gorgeous of all American fetes and throughout the entire trip as well as the delightful outing on the coast they will be the guests of The Democrat. Every expense will he borne by the management of this paper. After considerable forethought on the part of the management, this most famous of all the world’s sight-seeing resorts has been selected as the one place, w*hich would prove the most delightful for an outing for The Democrat girls. Situated as it is, overlooking the majestic Atlantic, it s the one ideal resort, not only for the pleasure seeking American but also for his English speaking cousins across the w*a-
tens. Ihe time selected for our young women to take the tour will see the height of the season at this, gayest of all amusement places. The Route. Everything that can possibly be added to the many pleasures of its honored guests is being arranged by the management, both for the elegant trip and the delightful outing. Even the route over which the young ladies will travel is being carefully selected and the delegation may rest assured that the one possessing the greatest amount of scenic beauty and natural scenery will be chosen. On the way to the coast visits will be made to Washington, D. C„ the nation’s capital, which will afford the young ladies an excellent opportunity of taking in this beautiful city, the pride of the United States. This feature in
itself is an assurance of an instructive as well as a delightful outing. And not only these points of interest will be included in the itinerary, but two more of the nation’s greatest cities will be visited, namely, Baltimore and Philadelphia, the Quaker City. ’ t New York City. New York City is the greatest city in all America, with its marvelous Bronx, its famous Bowery, its greatest wharfs, its stupendous skyscrapers, its grand old Broadway, it stands unequaled in all the world as a sightseeing re* sort.
This foremost of all American cities cannot be described in mere words; its grandeur, its vastness, its magnificence beggars description, and it is the one point in all the world that every loyal citizen of this great country is attracted to marvel at its greatness. A Premier Outing. It would be hard to imagine a more enjoyable outing than the tour of the east and the visit in -New York City, the greatest of all resorts. All through the east it is the custom of nearly every city of any importance to send delegations as their representatives to the festivities attending the height of the fashionable season. The festivities stand unparalleled in the annals of the world as the greatest and most imposing the human hand and human brain can conceive. Beautiful New York City has been called and justly so, the playground of all America, and it is with a feeling of great pleasure that I'lie Democrat offers an outing to such a noted place. Nature has excelled herself in decorating this charming city, and added to this the expenditure of thousands and thousands of dollars, as .has been said hv one of our greatest poets “In all the world no place is like this.”
The delegation of three young ladies will go as the official representatives of Jasper county to the world’s festivities, attending the height of the season. And every cent of the expense of sending the delegation on this delightful tour will be paid by the manageemnt of The Democrat. It will indeed be an honor that is not offered to many young laflies once in a life time to represent a county of this size at such an event.
Selection of Delegates. Ihe Democrat 'has ,not decided upon the names of the young women whq will act as delegates from this county, but intends to leave the selection entirely to the people of this county. The delegation will be chosen by a \ ote of the people and the three young women who receive the highest number of votes in the election, which begins to-day and continues about 4 weeks, will be sent by the management as the representatives of Jasper county to the world’s festivities in the "city by the sea.’’ Most Popular. ,
The young women who are j elected will indeed be the most popular young ladies in this section of the state. Jasper county has quite a reputation over the state for its attractive girls and when the most popular are' selected they will form a delegation of which not only The Democrat but the entire city and
county will be proud to have rep-[ resent them. Chance of a Lifetime. Young women of Jasper county this grand proposition is an opportunity of a life-time, not- only to witness and take part in. the gorgeous festivities attending the height of fashionable season, but to represent our own little city of which we are justly proud at this ! ovation.
Who are Eligible. Any young lady oh good moral character, married or single, residing in Jasper county is eligible to enter this contest. Simply mail or bring your name to The Democrat office. Three Are To Go. To make it easier for the contestants and so that this entire vicinity will be represented, the management will send three young women, one from each of ihe three districts. Each district wilt have a separate election. The young lady who receives the greatest number of votes in her district will be the one who will represent that district.
Manner of Voting. There are two ways in which one may vote for their faX^rite. First: Beginning to-day a coupon will appear in every issue of The Democrat, entitling the recipient to a stateef number of votes. Cut these coupons, place the name of the young lady whom you wish to help on her way to New York and either send or bring the coupon to The Democrat office. A big ballott box -will be placed in the front window of the office—simply drop vour ballotts into it. ■v Second: The second and easier way to make your favorite win is by taking a subscription to The Democrat. You can help her be among the successful ones by" subscribing for one or two years in advance. She will receive the number of votes as indicated below upon payment of the same. The Districts. To make it easier for the candidates to win because of the comparetive shortness of the contest the county has been divided into three separate districts. In this manner a young lady does not have to compete against the whole city or county, but merely against the contestants in her own district.
Special Offer. Any young lady entering the popular election befoer Saturday night will be given a bonus of 3.000 votes to start with, the equivalent of a year’s subscription to The Democrat. Now, young ladies, do not wait a single day, but begin to-day and gather in every single coupon and you will find the task an easy one. And whatever you do, register your name before Saturday night and help yourself materially by securing the bonus of three thousand votes to start with. Commence to roll up your votes and more will follow. Voting will begin to-day—you will note that coupon for twentyfive votes appears at the top of this article. Cut it out, place your name on it an.d bring orsend it to Ihe Democrat immediately. The names of the candidates, together with the number of votes each has to her credit up to that day will probably appear next Wednesday. By all means have your name appear in that announcement so your friends will know you are in the race to win.
Of course the best way to secure votes is by getting your friends to subscribe for a vear in advance, thus getting the votes issued thereon. But it is not ab : soiutely necessary that those who are in the election are subscribers to The Democrat. T The votes will be counted every few days and the -results will be announced in The Democrat. Special Notice. It should be thoroughly understood that ‘no one connected with The Pemocrat office in any capacity is to take any interest in any of the contestants or show favors to any of them. The contest is to be conducted in a fair, open manner, to every - one in every particular. Remember, the entire expense

It will not cost you as a subscriber one cent-more than you t ould pay for the paper any way and by paving a little in advance you will be the means of assisting one of the greatest honors and most enjoyable rewards that come to most girls not once in a life time.
It is not often that a young lady is offered an outing like this, and this, too, is the first time this city or vicinity has ever been resented at these gorgeous festivities. To the Young Woman. The young lady must be entered in the district in which she resides. hut she can receive votes from any porti.on of the county, or. in fact, anywhere The Democrat circulates. Of course the three young ladies who will comprise the delegation will be the three who have received the greatest number of votes in their respective districts. In addition to writing the name of the young lady whom you wsh to vbte for on • the coupon also write the number of the district in which she resieds. To enter the contest or to enter a friend all that you have to do is to write her name on a blank, piece of paper with her address or on a voting coupon and either j mail it or drop it in the ballot i box at The Democrat office; Remember that any young lady of good moral character is eligi- ! ble to enter the election.
