Jasper County Democrat, Volume 13, Number 58, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 29 October 1910 — EXTENSION IS NOT 140 FEET LONG. [ARTICLE]
EXTENSION IS NOT 140 FEET LONG.
The Republican was forced to admit it had stated an untruth i when it said specifications | in the recent improvement to the Burk bridge had been complied | with, and it was also forced to I acknowledge it had stated an untruth when it said that Charles !F. Stackhouse, then trustee of i Marion tp.. and now the demo- ! cratic candidate for county commissioner from the second district. was the superintendent of the “140 foot” extension built on [.the south end five years ago. It now says Mr. Stackhouse had nothing whatever to do with it, which is trite.
..Vow if it will send a reliable representative out to the bridge and measure this extension from where the old approach ends—it can easily he seen by looking under the bridge 130 feet north of the south end of the “140 foot” extension —it will find that the extension lacks a great deaj of being 140 feet in length, including the 7 foot approach, which it has mentioned. Measure from where 4his old approach ended and the planking begun the old bridge and you will find that you will have some more "renigging” to do. Will you do it?
