Royal Chinese Visitor Narrowly Escapes Assassination. PRISONER MAKES CONFESSION f Attempt to Kill Nobleman Frustrated by Vigilance of Officers—-Occur* on Arrival of the Party at San Francisco. . San Francisco, Oct. 7. —An attempt to assassirate Prince Tsai Sunn, head of the /imperial Chinese naval commission to the United States, as he left his special train at Oakland Mole, was frustrated by Secret Service Agent Moffatt and Detective Sergeant George McMahon, who arrested George Fong, a California born Chinese and a member of the Young China party, while drawing a loaded revolver from his pocket. Forg was among the immense throng which lined the station platform to greet the prince, and but for the fact that the train failed to stop at the usual place in the train shed, he would have been successful. Moffatt had been previously warned that an attempt might be made cn the life of the distinguished visitor, and was on the lookout, Fong having been pointed out to him as a leading member of the Young China party! As the huge engine passed the spot where it usually stops, Feng ran with the crowd in an effort to be on the ground when the prince landed. He took off his gloves when he was seized by Moffatt and McMahon and- hustled on the ferry! oat while the pirnce and his party were escorted to the naval tug Unadilla. When the prisoner was searched on the ferry boat, a 3 revolver with five cartridges in the chambejrs was found. Fong made no secret of his intentions when questioned and declared he intended to rid his country of one of its enemies. After much persuasion Fong made a complete statement. He declared that as a member of the Young China party, he considered It his duty to kill the prince and his aide and assist in the nrosTes.- of the movement to free China of the rule of Manchu. He declared he hesitated to fire the shot on account of the large number of Americans who were in the way and might be bit; that he did not want to Injure anybody but the prince; and attributed the failure of his scheme to this cause alone.
