CASE OF REBATING.
But Remington School Officers Did Not Profit Thereby. • Indianapolis News: A case of rebating in dealing in school supplies has been reported by field examiners in the employ of the state board of accounts, who have filed their report in the case of the school corporation of Remington, Jasper county. In the rebating, however, the school city did not lose any money, and none of the school officials profited thereby. The examiners set the matter out thus: “We call attention to the unusual source of $25 turned in by the school board as a rebate on the purchase of maps. The agent, refusing to report the sale for less than SIOO, accepted an offer of $75, and handed the board $25, which was deposited in the special school fund. A warrant was then issued for SIOO in payment for the maps.” The receipt' of the $25 was regularly recorded by the school authorities.
This corporation suffered a loss of all its balances, amounting to $629.49 when Robert Parker, then treasurer and cash- 1 ier of a bank in Remington, defaulted. The amount, was subsequently recovered from Parker’s bondsmem In the civil town of Wheatfield, Jasper county, former treasurer Louis Paulson was charged with $67.50, which this examiners attributed to errors. Mr. Paulson has the amount.
