DIPHTHERIA SPREAD BY CAT

Communicates Disease to Child, Death Following Various Treatments. Laporte, Ind., Aug. 26. —Hennion Strutz. 9 years old, died at Rolling Prairie of diphtheria contracted from a cat which was similarly afflicted. The parents employed various methods of treatment until the disease became violent, when physicians were called, but efforts to save the child proved unavailing. If other cases of the disease develop there will be a wholesale slaughter of cats in the village.
