ARREST RAIL OFFICIALS
Storm Breaks at Chicago in Illinois Central Graft Charges. Two former prominent officials of the Illinois Central Railroad company were arrested in Chicago in connection with the $1,500,000 car repair frauds against the road, and a warrant is out for a third man. Those arrested were Frank B. Harriman, former general manager of the Illinois Central system, and Charles L. Ewing, former general superintendent _ of”the~lllinois Central lines north of the Ohio river. Warrants for other former officials of the road will be asked in a few days, according to officials and new names will be brought ou at the trials of the men now’ under arrest, according to Illinois Central detectives and attorneys. President J. T. Harahan, it became known, called upon Chief Justice Olson of the municipal court and asked the issuance of the warrants for the men now under arrest. President Harahan, it is said, explained the matter at length to Justice Olson, who agreed that the warrants be issued. Counsel for the alleged grafters in the case accuse President Harahan and other official of the road as the chief figures in the famous Coughlin jury fixing scandal, and assert of the money declared stolen was used to bribe legislators.
