ALMOST FIVE INCHES OF RAIN.

While not as heavy here as in many other quarters of the state, yet for the six days ending Sunday, a total of 4.14 inches of water fell at Rensselaer as shown by the government register at St. Joseph’s College,-as follows: July 11, 1.40 inches; 12, .10 inches; 15, 1.85 inches; 17, .89 inches. - Great damage has been done to crops in the southern part of the state by the tremendous rains of the past week, which in some cases have approached a cloudburst. In this vicinity, wfhile interfering some .with haying and doing some damage to hay in the swath, the rains have been of great benefit to growing crops and pastures.
