RIGID ENFORCEMENT
Of Lid Law is Demanded at Mass Meeting at Anderson. Anderson, Ind., July 17.—At a mass meeting of voters here to-day the Civic League of Anderson was organized to secure a more rigid enforcement of the law in this city, where speakers 'have, said blind tigers are numerous, that gambling dens thrive and other law violations are unchecked. Thomas B. Orr. addressing the meeting, said conditions here are the same as they were at Newark. Ohio, proceeding the recent lynching there. President Frank Matthews, of the Police Board,’ denied they were lax. and demanded that citizens demanding more law enforcement assist the officers to obtain evidence necessary tor convictions after arrest. The purpose of the civic league is to give officers such assistance, and to meet expenses of the some. A fund of $2,422 was created at the meeting, twelve men giving SIOO each. Mayor Foster <|id not attend the meeting.
