Sam Powell, Who Robbed and Burned Home, Hanged. Victim Confessed His Crime and Bod/ Is Found Hanging from Tree by Early Morning Risers. Huttig, Ark., July 8. —A mob which did its work so quietly and quickly that none in towni, who did not take part, was awakened, broke into the jail here and lynched Sam Powell, a negro, who confused he robbed and burned the home of A E Lucas, his employer, here last month. The negros body was found hanging from the limb of a tree early Thursday morning.
