Judge Hanley adjourned court in Newton county Thursday until Monday, May 23, when the jury is called. The docket there is a light one. ' —o—. Miss True George has almost completely recovered from her severe illness last winter, and recently resumed her position as stenographer in the Trust & Savings Bank. J. F. Bruner was down from Valparaiso a few days this, week, and filed a bill of sale to Mahala J. Bruner of a half interest in his telephone lines in Jasper county, poles, instruments, etc. on lines 501, 502, 503, 504, 506, 507, 509, 610, 512 and 513, for $1,500, subject to a first lein of S6OO held' by the First National Bank of Rensselaer, and a mortgage of $1,250 held by Mary E. Troxell. —o —’ ' While building fence along the Howe ditch on his farm southwest of town a few days' ago, W. M. Hoover came upon a peculiar looking stone of quite large size that had been thrown out by the dredge. Giving it a blow with the head of his ax it split as evenly almost as a block of wood, which it very much resembles in a petrified state.
