Gwin and three daughters were in Rensselaer Wednesday. O. M. Peregrine was a business caller in the county seat Wednesday. Mrs. R. V. Johns went to Monon Monday evening returning Tuesday morning. Miss Myrtle Peregrine is spending the Week with her sister, Mrs. F. H. Porter. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Saidla and son, Harvey were Rensselaer shoppers Wednesday. 1 F. L. Peregrine and J. R. Phillips were business visitors in Rensselaer Monday and Tuesday. Mrs. Arthur Williamson visited her daughter, Mrs. Floyd Mill,er Wednesday afternoon. Mrs.. F. H. Porter, baby and sister, Myrtle Peregrine, were Rensselaer visitors Satuday. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Russel spent Sunday with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs., George Parker. Miss Ethel Parker spent Saturday and Sunday with her sister, Mrs. R. L. Russel and family. Jay Wood, little son of Van Wood, returned to Rensselaer after several days visit with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Phillips. Miss Mary Peregrine w’ent to Rensselaer Saturday morning enroute to Mt. Ayr for a couple days visit with Mr. and Mrs. Chester Downs.

Anderson, were Chicago goers this week. Misses Beatrice Langdon and Hazel Herath went to Knox Tuesday, to have dental work done. 'Miss Anna Misch went to Rensselaer Monday to visit with her uncle, L. P. Shirer and family. Mr. and Mrs. John Newcomb of Barkley township, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Gilbranson. Mrs. J. P. Hammond and son, Maurice of Rensselaer, visited with her parents, E. Jensen and wife this ' week. Misses Emma and Rilla Williams were in San Pierre the first of the week, the gupsts of their cousin, Mrs. Jones. Miss Dora Kellerman retuified to her home at North Judson, Wed- , nesday from a ten days visit with her. sister, Mrs, Wm. Wees. Mrs. John W. Tilton and daughter, Helen, of Rensselaer and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Greve of Chicago, visited relatives here this week. Miss Ruby Sterrett returned home to Rockland, Ind., Saturday after M. L. Sterrett and wife this winter, keeping house for her brother, Prof. Miss Mildred Glasscoe of -—-—- who has spent the winter with her aunt, Mrs. R. A. Mannan and attended school here, returned home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Myers, who have been, spending the winter at their southern home in Florida, returned home Tuesday looking fine and brown. Trustee Karch of Walker and Clark of Wheatfield townships, and Simon Fendig attended a meeting Of the county board of education at Rensselaer Monday. , The Baccalaureate sermon was delivered by Rev. C. E. Downey at the M, E. church Sunday evening, The house was crowded and all ex-

H:e. W. L. Stiers went to Chicago Saturday morning. Frank .Overton and family visited at Mrs. Holeman s Sunday. Some of the young people from here went to Monon Sunday evening. O. •A. Jacks has purchased an-other-carriage in his livery business. Several McCoysburg young people attended League here Sunday evening. Ray Holeman and family of near Reynolds, visited his mother, Mrs. Holeman, Sunday. Last Sunday evening Mrs. May Jacks and Dollies and Mrs. Dora Jacks and Oscar went to Remington t<* visit their brother, Mr. Lewis of that place. They returned Tuesday morning. The blind people, Mr, and Mrs. Ostander, gave an entertainment at the hall Saturday evening at this place.' Quite a crowd was present and they received a nice' sum for their evening’s work. Last Sunday was the, time to reorganize the Sunday school at this place, which was done and the officers were elected for the coming yeay. The S. S. is in fine running order and a large attendance, but room for more and everybody is codrially invitee! to attend.

Monroe County Officials Provide for ' Equipment of Laboratory.
Bloomington, Ind., May 6. —Monroe county is to lead the state in milk testing. At a recent meeting of the county council an appropriation was voted at the request Qf Dr. Fletcher M. Gardner, county health officer, for the equipment of a complete milk testing laboratory. the first, it is said, in any county in Iniana. The county council also appropriated a sum to employ a milk inspector. ■
BUILD THREE NEW BRIDGES
Knox County Commissioners Provide for Structures Near Vincennes. Vincennes, Ind., May 6.—The Knox county commissioners have ordered constructed bridges near Vincennes to co&t nearly $4,000. One of the bridges will parallel the Indianapolis and Vincennes and Evansville and Terre Haute railroad tracks across Kelso creek, and will be built of iron and cement. To prevent-fatal accidents the bridge will be equipped with a foot walk.
HOLDS CORNER STONE LAYING
Car Company Has Ceremony at New Hagerstown Office Building.
Hagerstown, Ind., May 0.--The corner stone for the new office building of the Light Inspection Car company at this place was laid in the presence of the 200 employes of the company and a large crowd of ,visitors.

TRAINMASTER IS PROMOTED
Unofficial Report Gives J. O. Bell Superintendency of E. & T. H. Road.' Evansville. Ind., May 6. —J. O. Bell, trainmaster of the Evansville and Terre Haute railroad, will succeed J. O. Crockett as superintendent of the road, it was announced unofficially. Mr. Crockett has gone to Buffalo, N. Y.. to take a position with H. I. Miller, formerly of Richmond, Ind., who has been appointed receiver of the Buffalo and Susquehanna railroad.

AUTO RUNS A FENCE
Indianapolis Speedway Scene of Accident —No One Hurt. Indianapolis, .May 6. mile race at the Speedway John Aitkin, driving a National —40, ran into the fence on the forty-ninth mile and wrecked the-car, throwing himself and his mechanician about thirty-five feet. Both fell on Soft earth and neither was injured. At the time of the accident Aitken was leading by about two miles over the Marmon.

Bloomington City Council Adopts Law Prohibiting Fowls at Large. Bloomington, Ind., .May 6. —Growing gardens and pretty flower beds received protection from the city council when an ordinance was adopted against allowing chickens funning at large. : . A fine of $lO is provided for violators. The council also passed an ordinance making it unlawful to keep er pig inside the city limits.
