AUTO TURNS TURTLE.

Rensselaer Hunting Party Have Narrow Escape From Fatal Injuries.

Harry Eger, Harry Parker, Jack Montgomery and Frank Bicknell had a very narrow escape from fatal injuries at about 8:30 a. m., yesterday, when the auto in which they were riding turned turtle and threw the whole party out. They were only hitting the high places when the accident occurred, and the momentum of the machine threw them all clear of it when they were dumped out. The accident occurred about six miles south of Rensselaer, some 40 rods south of Jacob Dewey’s farm residence, just south of the sandhill. The party had left Rensselaer, a short time previous in the Eger auto to go over, about Remington to hunt plover. Harry Eger was driving and they were cutting the wind at a lively clip when he seemed to partially lose control of the machine and it commenced zigzaging in his efforts to. right it. Suddenly it swerved too far, and in a twinkling the occupants w’ere thrown out violently to the ground, being thrown so far that all escaped injury from the auto. Harry Parker’s left elbow was dislocated. Jack Montgomery thought he had a rib or two broken and one shoulder hurt him some. Bicknell felt a little sore and the back of his neck hurt him some, but Harry Eger seemed to have escaped without hardly a scratch. The auto was not injured badly, it was thought, except the left rear wheel was torn off, the glass front and fenders broken. The roadway is smooth and level where'the accident occurred. Had it happend a little further south, where there is a dredge ditch on one side and a deep ditch on the other, it would likly have killed the entire party. The machine apparently turned completely over and slid and rolled about sixty feet before it lay still. Rensselaer doctors hurried out to the scene as soon as news of the accident was received here and there were all sorts of rumors as to the extent of the injuries, which fortunately were no where near as bad as first reported.
