REAR ADMIRAL DYER IS DEAD
Was Second in Command at the Bat* tie of Manila Bay. Boston, Jan. 28. —Rear Admiral N. Mayo Dyer, U. S. N., retired, second in command to Admiral Dewey at the battle of Manila bay in 1898, died suddenly at his home in Melrose, aged seventy-one. An autopsy was performed and it was found that he had been suffering from cancer of the bowels. ’•
